The Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department on Tuesday announced five District and Sessions Judge Courts as special courts in a bid to expedite the trial and early disposal of cases relating to spurious drugs.
Koraput, Ganjam, Sambalpur, Baleswar and Cuttack District and Sessions Courts were named as special courts after due consultations with the High Court Chief Justice under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 2008 (Amended), official sources said.
While Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Rayagada and Kalahandi, besides Koraput are to come under the jurisdiction of Koraput District and Sessions Judge Court, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Boudh were under Ganjam District and Sessions Judge Court, Balangir, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Sundargarh under Sambalpur District and Sessions Court, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrakh, Keonjhar and Jajpur under Baleswar District and Sessions Court and Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Angul, Puri, Nayagarh and Khurda under Cuttack District and Sessions Court.
