According to Himanshu Rout, about one and a half years back they had gone to Sudan and were working in a cigarette company “AfrraGutukha.” They were staying in Khartoum -3 city by getting a salary amount  ofRs 45,000 per month. While sharing the horrifying tale of the dangerous conflict, Rout stated that there were about eight Odias in a group in Sudan. Since disputes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces escalated into a conflict on April 15, Sudan’s capital city Khartoum turned into a war zone and life became a hell.

“There were explosions all around in front of our company. We were so terrified that we couldn’t sleep properly for some days and hardly ate anything amid the scary scenes near our camp.  Drinking water crisis along with power cuts made life miserable amid the 24- hour bombardment and firing.  We left the area on last April 28 and came 800 km by bus in the violence- hit zone by risking our life amid the firing of bullets and explosions. Later, we reached the Indian Embassy camp. We boarded a ship and reached Saudi Arabia. Later, we came to India by air on May 2,” narrated Himanshu.
