Malkangiri district collector Vishal Singh has cancelled as many as 48 mining lease tenders for minor minerals as per the recommendation of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Southern Division.
Notably, earlier, former Malkangiri Collector Y Vijay was accused of tender-fixing. The RDC had carried out an investigation into the matter and recommended to the present Collector for cancellation of lease tenders.
It was alleged that Y Vijay received bribe to award rights to the bidders and also took the tender boxes to his residence. However, he had refuted the allegations saying that he took the boxes to his house for security reasons.
