In a bid to develop youth resources, Sport and Youth Service Department in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYSK) distributed Rs 10,000 each to 45 organisations here on Tuesday under Biju Yuva Sashakti Karan Yajna (BYSKY) to reactivate defunct youth clubs.
Attending the event as chief guest, the Dhenkanal District Collector said the grant would ensure the youth clubs take up various activities for the development of youths and society. NYSK zonal director Rita Bhagat said even through there are existing 11,000 youth clubs in the State, but the presence of youth clubs in urban areas is negligible. So the State Government has introduced a scheme for providing financial assistance to the youth clubs under the BYSKY with a special focus on the urban areas.The scheme would provide suitable platform to youths to utilise their talent and capacity, said BYSKY nodal officer Prabir Kumar Pradhan.
