Around 44 students were hospitalised after consuming contaminated food served at an Ashram school hostel of the ST and SC Development Department at Bankapalasa in Kalahandi district on Sunday. The school authority immediately shifted 24 students to the Junagarh CHC on Sunday night and another 20 students on Monday morning. Their condition is stated to be out of danger.
The students, who had eaten at the hostel mess on Sunday night, started vomiting and complained of giddiness.The hostel authority immediately rushed the students to the hospital through 108 Ambulance. “The students were diagnosed with bacterial infection in the stomach which could have been due to water contamination”, Dr Bhagaban Panda of Junagarh CHC said.
