The Scheduled Tribe (ST) youths, who were recruited as Special Police Officers (SPOs) in 2008 and 2009 and were subsequently absorbed in Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) after undergoing three years of contractual engagement, will now be posted in different police stations of the State as regular civilian policemen.

The State Government has decided to deploy 4,188 Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) Constables at different police stations and outposts across the State. Earlier in November, DGP KB Singh had requested the Government in this regard.

The Constables would be deployed at police stations and outposts which staff crunch. They would withdraw salaries and allowances from their respective SP or DCP office. The SPs and the DCPs in Commissionerate Police area would transfer them to other places under their jurisdiction whenever they want so, an official release said.

It too informed that such Constables would be engaged at 'Mahil and Shish Desks' and grievance cells. Highest of 505 Constables would be deployed in Bhubaneswar followed by 432 in Cuttack. The lowest number 28 would be deployed in Rayagada district.
