Police on Wednesday arrested four persons on the charges of rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a pond at village Fazalpur under the Korei police station in Jajpur district on Tuesday evening.
The girl’s father Bhagirathi Otara, who works as an ambulance driver in the District Headquarter Hospital, had filed an FIR at the Korei police station on Tuesday evening allesging that his daughter Sunita was gangraped and killed by some persons on Monday night while she was alone in the house.
later, they dumped the body in the village pond. Police rushed to the spot and seized the body, said Korei PS IIC Chinmayee Sahoo.
“Acting on the FIR, we filed a case under Sections 302 (murder), 378 (rape) of Indian Penal Code and Sections 4 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012 and started investigation of the case,” added the police officer.
The arrested accused were identified as Sk Hanana Ali, Multan Ali, Sk laden and Abhimanyu Otara, the elder brother of the deceased girl’s father, added the IIC.
