PNS

Four girls aged between 20 and 22, who were rescued by the Bhubaneswar Government Railway Police (GRP) when they were being trafficked to Kerala by a private agency, reached here on Friday.

The girls hail from lakhanpur area of Jharsuguda district. They were being taken to Aluka of Kerala by a local private agency on the pretext of jobs. The agency had taken 19 girls but suspecting something wrong, 15 out of 19 girls had managed to come back to their home in Sundargarh district.

Getting information from them, the family members of the four girls informed the District labour Officer who then immediately informed the matter to Bhubaneswar GRP.  The GRP officials rescued them and handed them over to their parents at the Jharsuguda railway station.

However, the rescued girls said they were not forced to leave their houses by the private agency. On the other hand, DlO Arun Ray said no permission was taken by the agency to take these girls out of the State.
