Four girls and two minor boys of Sundargarh district, who had allegedly been trafficked to New Delhi in February and consequently went missing, have been rescued by Sundargarh police.

The police brought them from New Delhi to Sundargarh on Tuesday and handed over them to their respectively families on Wednesday.

Sources said two women dalals, one of Bandega village and another of Dengibadi in Sundargarh, had taken four girls and four boys, including two minors from Deuldih village under lepripada block promising them to give jobs in an Ashram in Bihar with monthly salary of Rs 10,000.

One Nihal from New Delhi had sent money to the women for the purpose.

After they reached New Delhi, Nihal along with another agent Suraj engaged the trio as domestic helps at different places.

Unable to bear torture there, two youths, identified as Om Siba and Bikash, came back to Sundargarh a month after and told family members about the traumatic conditions they had gone through.

But family members of the rest four girls and two minor boys could not get any information about their whereabouts.

On June 13, the woman agent, under pressure, gave a written agreement that she would bring back them in a week’s time. But when their wards did not return ever after 25 days, the family members lodged an FIR at the lepripada police station and informed Sundargarh SP Nikhil Kanodia about the matter.

The SP sent a police  team along with family members of the victims   and a volunteer  of  the Prragati,  an  NGO,  to New  Delhi recently to  trace  girls and boys. The six were rescued from different places in New Delhi.

They were identified as  Kuni Majhi(18), Amrita  Tete(22), Asmita Tete(20), Akash Majhi(17), Rajni  Soreng(22) and Bicky Majhi(16), all of Deuldih village.
