The Digapahandi police in Ganjam district have arrested and forwarded to court three more accused allegedly involved in the double murder in Mahuda village on June 29.
With this, the total number of arrests has risen to nine in the case.
The arrested were identified as Tukuna Nahak, Krushna Sahu, and Jayaguru Dalai. All of them are residents of Mahuda.
Earlier, the Digapahandi police had detained 15 persons on suspicion in connection with the incident. During interrogation three persons admitted of being involved in the crime.
Notably, on the fateful day some villagers lynched Litu Padhy and Siba Gauda of Lathi village and later tried to burn their bodies to destroy violence.
The locals alleged that the duo were anti-social elements and used to extort money by threatening them. Finally the irate villagers took the law in to their hands as repeated complaints yielded no results
