Police rescued a minor girl hours after she had been abducted by miscreants from the Gandahati waterfall in Gajapati district on Sunday afternoon.
The police also detained a youth in this connection. The youth was identified as Bijay Kumar Mohanty of Anka Sahi, Paralakhemundi.
According to information, two sisters had gone to the waterfall for a move on Sunday afternoon. While they were moving, some miscreants came and forcibly took away the elder one, aged about 14. The miscreants also attacked the girl’s younger sister and maternal uncle as they protested. They took away the girl by a motorcycle.
Later, the victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Garabandha police station in this regard.
Acting on the complaint, the police made a search drive and found the girl and the youth near Bhubani village on Sunday night.
