The Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a liquor trader at Brahmanijharilo in Cuttack district in December 6.

Police have seized the murder weapon, live bullets, licenced gun of the deceased and a laptop from their possession.

“We have arrested three accused involved in the murder of liquor trader Binod Bihari Das,” Commissioner RP Sharma told reporters.

Notably, three unidentified miscreants had fired three rounds of bullets at Binod Bihari Das alias Kutu at his brother’s liquor outlet in Brahmanijharilo market under Cuttack Sadar police station limits on December 6.

The miscreants had gone to the liquor shop where they consumed alcohol. Moments later an altercation ensued between the trio and Das. They barged into the shop and fired three rounds of bullets at him from close range. Before fleeing the spot on a two-wheeler, the assailants looted cash from the shop and broke the close circuit camera installed at the shop.

A profusely bleeding Das was rushed to a private hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.
