Three youths were arrested on Thursday for running a sex racket in the city. The Commissionerate Police also detained two Kolkata women in this connection for interrogation.
The arrested youths were identified as Dibakar Behera, Preeti Ranjan Mohapatra and Chandra Prakash Das, all belonging to Brahmapur city in Ganjam district. The police nabbed the trio from the Kalyani Plaza apartment at Sundarpada here and forwarded them to court.
According to Inspector-in-Charge of Airfield police station Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, a police patrolling team raided the G-6 of Block-3 in the Kalyani Plaza and nabbed the three youths along with the two women from Kolkata. “The youths were running the sex racket in Preeti Ranjan’s rented room in the apartment since many days,” Sahu said.
During investigation, the youths revealed that the women were charging between Rs4,000 and Rs5,000 a day. The detained women would be sent to a short-stay home in the city, police sources said.
