The Chhatrapur police on Tuesday arrested three persons on the charge of pelting eggs and tomatoes at Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma’s car at Chhatrapur on Monday.
They were identified as Arun Nayak, Hadu Reddy and Kalia Raul of the Chhatrapur area. The activists, who had hurled eggs and tomatoes at the Minister when he was on his way to attend the Berhampur University’s golden jubilee function, claimed to be the members of the student and youth wings of the Congress.
While the Students’ Congress has claimed responsibility for the act, the Minister has alleged it to be the handiwork of a former MlA from Puri district.
It may be noted here that the Minister faced egg and tomato attacks on two consecutive days. On Sunday, the Congress activists hurled eggs his car at the Special Circuit House in Puri alleging large-scale irregularities in the allotment of ration cards. On Monday, a similar incident happened to him on similar allegations at Chhatrapur.
Police had arrested five Congress activists on Monday in connection with Puri incident.
