The Talsara police have apprehended three miscreants for their alleged involvement in extorting money from a businessman posing themselves as members of the Pahadi Cheetah gang, a Jharkhand-based criminal outfit.

According to Sundargarh SP Dayanidhi Gochhayat, businessman lalit Singh of Hutupani village under the Talsara police limits in Sundargarh district had received a threat call on August 31 demanding Rs 5 lakh in the name of Pahadi Cheetah gang.

When Singh got repeated calls, he lodged a complaint with Talsara Police Station. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Mukesh Singh (20) and Kissan Mahato (19), both from Hutupani village, and Kaleswar Naik (20) of Simdega in Jharkhand tracking their phone calls. Police have started verifying about the miscreants’ real identity whether they belong to the Pahadi Cheetah gang or not, said the SP.

Notably, the people of Talsara and Simdega were living in fear a year ago due the Pahadi Cheetah menace. After the intervention of the police, the activities of the gang have reduced drastically.
