Three employees of the Baleswar Municipality have been placed under suspension on the allegation of embezzlement relief materials meant for the Phailin victims in the district. The trio, identified as Dillip Pani, Ashok Mohanty and Amarendra Panda, were suspended by Municipality chairman Alok Kumar Sahoo on Tuesday evening.
They were allegedly involved in embezzlement of four bags of flattened rice on Sunday. One security guard claimed to have noticed an auto-rickshaw loaded with four bags of flattened rice going out from the office when the officials were busy at the Chief Minister’s meeting.
The three employees were present inside the godown at that time.The matter came to the limelight when a councillor brought it to the notice of the Municipality Chairman on Monday.
The town police have registered a case against the trio following a complaint filed by Municipality Executive Officer Purna Chandra Mishra.Besides, the Executive Officer in consultation with the Chairman has asked municipal engineer to probe and submit a report on the matter.
