Three 700-year-old idols were allegedly stolen from a temple in the main precincts of the famous Chandrasekhar Temple at Kapilash in Dhekhanal district on Thursday.
The three antique stone idols are around three-feet to four-feet in height and are of lord Ganesh, Goddess Durga and Goddess Bhairavi. They were stolen from near the entrance of the temple.
The robbery was found by the priest after he went to the temple in the morning for prayers. The temple administration has filed a complaint in this regard at the Gondia police station.
In December last year, some miscreants had also stolen ornaments from the idol of Goddess Parvati in the temple.
