Miscreants shot dead a youth of the Bargaon area in Sundargarh district from a close range on Monday midnight. It was the second gunshot incident in district occurred in 24 hours. On Monday morning, two miscreants had opened fire at a businessman of Nuagaon block who later died in the hospital.
Sources said Sanjay Das (32) alias Pintu, a native of Bastipada village under Bargaon block, was sleeping in his house with his wife and children. At around 12.30 am, he woke up and come out for urination. Suddenly, his family members heard a huge sound and, when came out, found Pintu lying in a pool of blood with an injury on his left chest. Before he could say anything to them, Pintu died. The culprits had fled from the spot.
The Bargaon police along with a scientific team reached the spot and started investigation.
According to police, Pintu had some criminal records in Bargaon and Jharsuguda police stations. Police suspect some rival groups might have killed him. “We have started an investigation to identify the culprits involved in the killing,” said Rajgangpur SDPO SK Panigrahi.
