PNS

The Bhubaneswar-Tirupati-Bhubaneswar Express fitted with bio-toilets in all the 22 coaches was flagged off here on Sunday.

The train, which is the second bio-toilet fitted train from Bhubaneswar, was inaugurated at the railway station here by A Krishna Rao, a technician grade employee of the East Coast Railway (ECoR).

ECoR Chief Rolling Stock Engineer MK Poddar and Additional Divisional Railway Manager SP Dwivedi and senior officers of the Khordha Road Railway Division were present.

As the train is connecting important tourist destinations, it has aptly been decided for its conversion as ‘Green Train’ by providing all its coaches with bio-toilets for a greener and cleaner India. The bio-toilet system consists of a bio-digester tank which contains anaerobic bacteria which converts solid human waste into liquid waste and some gases (carbon dioxide and methane.

Earlier, the ECoR provided the facility in the Bhubaneswar-Rameswaram Express, Puri-Okha Express, Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar Shirdi Express, Visakhapatnam-lTT Express and Visakhapatnam-Chennai Express.
