In a bid to stabilise prices of pulses, the State Government has imported 2,500 MT of pulses.

“The NAFED has procured around 2,500 metric tonne pulses from outside. We import pulses from states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as we are a consuming State. There is no need to panic," said Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma.

He stated that the wholesale price of dal has gone down by Rs 500 a quintal.

"The new crop would be harvested in 15 days to one month's time. We are taking steps to stabilise the market in the State," added Dasburma.

Meanwhile, Collectors have been asked to keep a close watch on black-merketeers in their respective districts to contain the price rise, the Minister informed.

"The district Collectors have been asked to hold meetings with wholesale and retail businessmen in order to put a check on the rising prices of pulses. They have to publish the prices in the media as well as put it up on the board as declared price," Dasburma added.
