The Champua police on Sunday seized `22.48 lakh from one Soren Barik house in Naradpur village under the Champua Assembly constituency in Keonjhar district.
The seizure came to the light when a flying squad comprising Champua Sub-Collector Arabindam Dakua, DSP PK Jena and IIC Kalandi Behera conducted a surprise raid on Soren’s house. The raid continued for four hours from 2 pm to 6 pm.“On a tip-off, we conducted the raid and seized the money,” said IIC Behera. He informed that the team did not recover any banner or election materials from him.While it is learnt from the reliable sources that Soren Barik is a relation of Independent candidate Kusa Apat, Barik claims he has got the money as compensation amount against his displacement in Kanpur project.
