Worker dies in Metalics plant mishap in S’pur
Sambalpur: A 20-year-old worker died due to an explosion in a blast furnace of the Shyam Metalics & Energy limited at Pandloi under Rengali block in Sambalpur district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Gundu Kumar Sahani, who hailed from Bihar. Sahani died while he was being taken to the VIMSAR in Burla in a critical condition, reports said. Tension gripped the plant following the incident as other workers staged a dharna at the main gate demanding compensation for the deceased’s family.
Doc ‘assaults’ woman patient in Bhadrak hosp
Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a doctor of the Chandbali Community Health Centre (CHC) on Wednesday allegedly thrashed a woman admitted for delivery. Subhalaxmi Behera of Nalgohira village, who had been admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, was on Thursday transferred to the delivery room after she complained of labour pain. However, she alleged that the doctor on duty assaulted her for no apparent reason. An Asha worker, who was on duty at that time, corroborated the woman’s allegation. CHC Medical Officer-in-Charge Gayadhar Sahu said he had not yet received any complaint regarding the assault.
