VHP meeting held at Baripada
Baripada: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad Mayuyrbhanj district unit on Thursday held an office-bearers’ meeting here. The meeting was presided over by senior VHP leader Harihar Tripathy and attended by Divakar Tripathy, Ranjan Mishra, Muna Saha, Somanath Das, Haripada Kalia. Chief guest VHP State organising secretary Anandji Pandey advised all to strengthen the VHP network at the grassroots level. Over 100 VHP office-bearers drawn from different district took part in the programme.
Water scarcity: Baripada women take to streets
Baripada: Acute water scarcity in parts of Wards-23 and 24 of Baripada town forced hundreds of women of these areas on Thursday to take to streets. Protesting against the shortage in water supply, the women blocked the main road in the Takatpur area. It was only after an assurance from the concerned authorities that their problem would be solved soon that they called off their road blockade.
Missing child’s body found in drain in Sambalpur
Sambalpur: A dead body of a six-year-old child was found from a drain at Bahalpada here on Friday this morning. The body of deceased Kadar Khan, son of an auto driver of N Guha lane at Bahalpada, was wrapped in a gunny bag. The child had been missing for three days. A missing complaint had also been filed by the family. Tension erupted in the area after the body was recovered. Police reached the spot and began investigation.
