Fire mishap in D’nal: One dies, 9 injured
Dhenkanal: A person died and nine others, including a three-year-old girl child, sustained critical injuries as a fire broke out at Gengutia Mohanty Sahi under the Sadar police limits here late on Wednesday night. The blaze erupted in the locality when most people were asleep. The fire spread rapidly gutting at least 12 houses and injuring ten persons. Fire Service personnel doused the flames and rescued the victims. The injured were admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack, where Ranjan Behera (22) succumbed to his burn injuries while undergoing treatment.
Stone for Balangir City Park laid
Balangir: Rajya Sabha member AU Singh Deo laid foundation-stone for a City Park on the outskirt of Balangir town on Thursday. The park would spread over 10 acre of land and have provision for a water fountain, a children’s park, lighting, landscape and, path to walk for relaxation of citizens of the town. Out of its total estimated cost of Rs 1.91 crore, an amount of Rs 20 lakh has been allotted from Singh Deo’s MPlAD fund. District Collector Ashis Thakre, Balangir Municipality Chairperson Santosini Behera, ACF Goutam Naik and Balangir Range Officer BC Roul were present at the ceremony.
Gosala inaugurated in Kandhamal
Phulbani: local MlA Duguni Kanhar inaugurated a Gosala at Karnada village under Minia panchayat of Phiringia in Kandhamal district on Thursday. Ashram head Maharaj Bhakti Bibhudha Narayan initiated efforts to establish the Gosala. Ramprabhu, Nilanchal Mahendra Subudhi and other eminent persons were present at the inaugural function. About 40 cows are lodged at the Gosala.
