A 30-year-old Dalit woman was left in critical condition following a doctor allegedly cut a wrong tube while she was undergoing family planning operation on Monday at a camp organised in Indupur CHC.
According to police sources, Ramesh Mallick of Endor village under Kendrapada Sadar police station lodged an FIR alleging that his wife Jharana Mallick on Monday was admitted at the Indupur CHC for family planning operation. CHC in-charge Dr Pradip Kumar Das allegedly cut a portion of another tube instead of fallopian tube of Jharana. later, the doctor asked Ramesh to shift Jharana to the DHH as her condition was serious.
Ramesh claimed that since due to a faulty operation his wife’s condition had grown serious, the doctor must be held responsible for any eventualities.
Meanwhile, ASHA Sabitri Rout, who brought Jharana for family planning operation, stated that the doctors in the DHH had directed to take the patient to SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack for further treatment.
When contacted, CDMO Niranjan Swain stated that more than a dozen of family planning operations had been conducted at Indupr CHC the same day. He assured to conduct a probe into the matter.
