Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested Executive Engineer Deepak Kumar Bhuiyan and Cashier Himansu Chandra Swain of GED-II in Cuttack for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 42,000.
They had demanded bribe from one Trilochan Sahu of Jagadiha village in Jajpur district for signing of agreement for new works.
Sahu alleged he executed repairing and renovation of electrical works in different Government quarters in Cuttack Town. Accused Bhuiyan and Swain demanded 7 per cent for the bill amount passed earlier and Rs 42,000 for signing of agreement for new works.
On Sahoo’s complaint, a trap was laid and Deepak Kumar Bhuiyan and Himansu Chandra Swain caught raid-handed by the Vigilance officers at the office chamber.
