Sardar Patel body decries CM
Brahmapur: Members of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Bahumukhi Sangha strongly criticised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not visiting missing Charan Moharana’s home during his one-day visit to the Brahmapur on Monday. It shows that the CM does not have respect for the soldiers of the country, they said. The members staged a protest dharna near the Gandhi statue here. Kishore Chandra Patra, Sanjaya Kumar, Das, Prashant Padhy and Hemant Kumar Patra were present, among others.
Woman, 2-yr daughter killed in road mishap
Jajpur: A woman and her two-year-old daughter were killed in a road accident at Dhabalagiri Chhak under the Jajpur Road police station in Jajpur district on Sunday evening. The deceased were identified as Rosani Sahoo (23) her daughter Saina of Tamaka village. The two were riding pillion on a motorcycle while Rosani’s husband Butu was driving. The incident occurred when a speeding truck collided with the motorcycle. Rosani’s husband sustained serious injuries. Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.
Beheaded body found in R’kela
Rourkela: The Sector-15 police here on Sunday recovered a headless body of a man of around 30-35 years whose hands were tied with rope. The body had not been identified. The body was lying near the bank of Koel river at Sector-16 under the Sector-15 police station.
Dengue awareness drive at P’khemundi
Paralakhkemundi: The Paralakhemundi Municipality has launched an awareness programme to arrest the spread of vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. The awareness campaign has started from July 23 and would continue till the people are well aware of the diseases. Municipality Executive Officer Ashok Kumar Raut is coordinating the programme.
