Panchayat Executive Officer Sankarsan Prusty of Odanga gram panchayat in Bhadrak district was arrested by Vigilance officials on Thursday for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000. Prusty had demanded the bribe from one Bailochan Mohanty of Arjhatia village in the district for processing and withdrawal of third phase bill under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana. On Mahanty’s complaint, a trap was laid and Prusty caught red-handed.
Similarly, Jajpur district’s Bari Tehsil Amin Jugal Charan Nayak was arrested by Vigilance officials on the same day for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1,500. Nayak had demanded bribe from one Kedarnath Nayak of Mitrasenpur village in the district for demarcation of his disputed land. On Kedarnath Nayak’s complaint, a trap was laid and Nayak caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers in the record room of the Bari Tehsil office.
