Angul woman RI held taking bribe
Angul: Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Revenue Inspector (RI) Shubhashree Priyadarshni of Kiakata RI Circle under the Athamallik Tehshil office in Angul district for demanding and accepting bribe. The RI had demanded bribe of Rs 4,500 from one Tinkuranjan Behera of Kadaligarh in Sambalpur district for submission of a verification report in a land mutation case. Behera alleged that he had filed a mutation case in the Athamallik Tehasil office and requested the RI to submit a verification report. As the RI demanded bribe, Behera reported the matter to Vigilance. Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught the RI red-handed.
Chit fund agent arrested in B’swar
Baleswar: The Khantapara police on Wednesday arrested an agent working for several chit fund companies. Some irate depositors handed over accused Shantilata Saw (55) of Chattrapur village in Baleswar district when they didn’t receive the return of their capital money.
Five injured in group clash in Baleswar
Baleswar: At least five people were injured as two groups of people of Gopalpur village in Baleswar district clashed over a land dispute on Wednesday. The injured were admitted in a local hospital. The police have started investigation
