U Sammilani mourns Gangadhar’s death
Bhubaneswar: The Utkal Sammilani mourned the death of senior advocate and Sammilani Bhubaneswar branch former president Gangadhar Panigrahi here on Friday. Sammilani State vice-president Ananta Prasad Jena went to Panigrahi’s village and paid floral tribute to his dead body. Sammilani Bhubaneswar branch president Bibhuti Mishra, Mancheswar Industrial Estate branch head Dillip Dashsharma, treasurer Usharani Mohanty and other members and workers of the body condoled Panigrahi’s death and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
City docs conduct rare cancer surgery
Bhubaneswar: Doctors at the Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital (IMSSH) successfully conducted a rare surgery to remove a seven-kilogram tumor from the abdomen of a 40-year-old woman suffering from ovarian cancer. A team led by surgical oncologist Dr Sunil Agrawala conducted the surgery for over eight hours this week. The women did not respond to chemotherapy and the doctors had to take the challenge to operate on her, said Dr Agrawala. The team also reconstructed the patient’s abdominal wall. The patient’s condition was improving.
Bibhudatta gets Best PR award
Bhubaneswar: Aditya Birla Group Corporate Communications & CSR General Manager Bibhudatta Mahapatra was conferred with “Best PR Professional Award” by Governor SC Jamir at a ceremony organised by the Prerna and the State Pollution Control Board at the Jayadev Bhavan here on Friday. In 2013, Mahapatra had been felicitated at the Odisha living legend Award ceremony and was also conferred upon with Kalinga Saraswat Award-2013. He had also been awarded Dr Ambedkar Award 2012.
Akanksha Power awarded for rural franchisee
Bhubaneswar: The Akanksha Power was conferred with the National Award for outstanding contribution to the power sector in the rural distribution franchisee arena at a function held in New Delhi on Wednesday. The award was received by Akanksha Power MD Bipin Dasmohapatra from Minister of State for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal.
