Traffic disrupts on J’swar-Chandaneswar road
Baleswar: Vehicular movement on the road connecting Jaleswar and Chandaneswar was disrupted for more than five hours on Monday following an agitation staged by some locals, including students of a college in Jaleswar, protesting the death of a motorcyclist. Deceased Trilochan Jena (55), who was a lecturer of Education Department at the DK College, died in a road accident near the Sugo square. The agitators withdrew their stir following intervention of the local tehsildar, who assured them to address their demand of constructing a speed-breaker near the spot.
Woman charred to death in Kendrapada
Kendrapada: A 35-year-old woman charred to death and four thatched rooms were gutted in an accidental fire at Gunadia village under the Ali police limits late on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as lochani Jena, wife of Basant Jena. lochani was sleeping in her house with family members when the fire erupted possibly due to an electric short-circuit. lochani is survived by her husband and two children.
Police officer’s son dies in road mishap
Jagatsinghpur: A police officer’s son K Abhisek Ananda (25) was killed in a road accident at Nuapolo on the Cuttack-Jagatsinghpur road on late Sunday night. He was on his way to Jagatsinghpur when his bike hit a tree and he sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital here, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was the son of Special Branch Inspector KR Swami posted in Bhubaneswar.
Two youths nabbed for loot at J’suguda
Jharsuguda: Two youths, Imran Khan (23) and Jamir Ahmad (21), and receiver of property SK Raja were arrested by the Town police on Sunday on the charges of committing burglary. The police recovered two motorbikes, a country-made pistol and three mobile phones from their possession. One Abdual Bholu had been arrested earlier in this connection. According to police, the accused are involved in four burglary cases. They have looted more than four persons in different areas. They had also burnt a motorbike after looting a railway TTE. According to SDPO Bijay Nanda, the other two persons of the gang are at large.
