SHA win Narayan Singh Memorial Hockey Tourney
PNS/Rourkela: Maintaining its tradition of creating winners, the SAIl Hockey Academy (SHA) team of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has once again proved its potential by winning the 38th Narayan Singh Memorial All India Gold Cup Hockey Tournament held at Balghat, Madhya Pradesh. The SHA team received the running Gold Cup and a cash award of Rs50,000 along with individual prizes defeating Signal Corps, Jalandhar in the final match with a score of 2-1 goals and participation cups at the prestigious Tournament. The event witnessed the participation of as many as 18 teams.
SHA player Anand lakra was adjudged as ‘Man of the Tournament’. It is worth mentioning here that SAIl Hockey Academy is the initiative of Rourkela Steel Plant to promote Hockey in the region by encouraging and grooming budding talents. The Academy has produced many internationally and nationally acclaimed players including the Birendra lakra. It also provides world class facilities to the trainees and players.
