Man gets 10-yr RI for raping minor in S’garh
Rourkela: Rourkela ACJ PK Patra on Monday awarded 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) along with penalty of Rs10,000 to one Mangru Minz of Ranto-Birkera under the Brahmani Tarang police station for raping a five-year-old minor girl on March 2 2012.The accused will undergo additional six months imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine amount. The girl had been raped when she had gone to a social gathering with her grandmother. While returning, her grandmother asked Mangru to carry the girl to her house. Taking advantage of the situation, Mangru took her to the Chandri canal and raped her. The court ordered to hand over the fine amount to the victim’s kin as compensation.
Rapist gets 7-yr RI in Sundargarh
Rourkela: Sukhram Tuiyan (55) of Kusumdih village under Koira police station, who had allegedly kidnapped and raped his 19 year-old fellow village girl in 2010, was sentenced to seven year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2000 by Bonei Additional Sessions Judge on Tuesday. He will serve another six months of imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine. On October 7, 2010 Sukhram raped the girl by entering her house while her mother had gone for marketing.
aClean drive launched in Baripada
Baripada: The Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan was carried out at Irrigation Residential Colony situated at Takatpur and at the Debendrapur Primary School of Baripada town with common people, school teachers and students participating in a cleaning drive. Similarly, a sanitation drive was also launched at lord Dhaneswar Shiva Temple. The students and teachers of lMP High School besides social worker Kuber Rana and a few local residents cleaned the vicinity.
