Dengue spreads in Baleswar district
Baleswar: A medical team has been rushed to Basta after the outbreak of a large number of dengue cases. While five persons are undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital here, four cases have been reported from Benapur of Basta block.
Three gang-rapists arrested in R’kela
Rourkela: The Bondhamunda police arrested three persons on Thursday for allegedly gangraping a 15-year-old girl of Gundichapali on Tuesday when she was returning from her friend’s house at 8 pm.
Ten miscreants kidnapped her to a nearby ground and gangraped her. After they left the spot, the girl managed to reach home and narrated the incident to her mother. Following an FIR, the police arrested Sagar Das (21), Sambhu Banchhore (21) and Prem Sahu (32). They were forwarded to court after their and the girl’s medical examination on Friday.
Eatery worker killed in Rourkela
Rourkela: One Paramananda Mahato (32) was killed by another man near a roadside eatery of Mani Colony here on Thursday night. The police nabbed accused Santosh Mahato, who was hiding near an abandoned well. Paramananda, who was working as a labourer at the roadside eatery, used to create nuisance most of the time in the locality after consuming liquor. On the Thursday night, while he was sleeping near the eatery Santosh slit his throat. The accused said he was upset over Paramananda’s attitude towards her sister.
