Satyanarayan Meher, OAS-I, Tehsildar, Tarava in Subarnapur district, was arrested by the Vigilance police for taking bribe of Rs10,000 on Friday. Meher was caught by Vigilance officers in his office chamber after he demanded and accepted the bribe from Goutam Nayak of village Rambha under the Sindhol police station to issue ROR (land patta) in his name, which was initiated and finalised in a mutation case.
laxman Kumar Jena, Data Entry Operator (Contractual), Sadar block, Baripada, was also arrested by the Vigilance police for taking bribe of Rs1,500 on Friday.He was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers in the Sadar block office, Baripada, while demanding and accepting the bribe from Sankar Marandi of village Salbani to provide a caste certificate, a residential certificate and an income certificate to him to be used for his higher studies and job.In another similar instance, Santunu Padhi, Senior Clerk in the office of Tehsildar, Bijepur in Bargarh district, was arrested by the Vigilance police for taking bribe of Rs500 on Friday.
He was caught by Vigilance officers in his office room after and accepted the bribe from Goura Sahoo of village Jaring to process the file for demarcation of his disputed land. He had also earlier received Rs800 from Sahoo for the same purpose.
