Deer killed in accident in Athagarh
Athagarh: A deer was found killed near Paikerapur village, about 10 km from here on Sunday morning. On information from villagers Khuntuni, forest officials recovered the animal’s body and conducted an autopsy. The Khuntuni Range Officer said the deer was run over by a vehicle during on Saturday night when it was on its way to drink water from the Mahanadi.
One dies in road accident at Rourkela
Rourkela: A 50-year-old man died after being run over by a speeding truck at Vedvyas here on Sunday morning. The police have arrested the driver and seized the truck. The deceased has been identified as Sundarmani Bhumij, a resident of Burutola. According to eyewitnesses, while Bhumij fell off his cycle, the truck hit him from behind. He died on his way to hospital. locals blocked the road for one hour demanding compensation for the deceased’s family. A police team led by Brahamni Tarang police station IIC Upendra Pradhan assured the irate locals of compensation following which they vacated the spot. The accused would be forwarded to court on Monday morning, said Pradhan.
