A workshop on “Virus diseases of vegetable crops and their management” was organised by the Society for Plant Protection and Environment (SPPE) with financial assistance by the State Government at the OUAT here.
The meeting was attended by over 200 scientist extension personnel ofthe State, apart from teachers and students of the OUAT.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof N Panda graced the occasion as chief speaker, while Prof M Stout, lSU, USA, Dr JA Davis, lSU USA, Dr VK Baranwal, IARI, New Delhi, Dr V Venkataravannappa, IIVR, Varanasi and Dr R Korada, CTCRI, Bhubaneswar spoke as experts.
They highlighted the complexity of virus- vector relationship and emphasized on searching resistance sources of plants to the virus vector. SPPE president Dr BC Jena, secretary Dr BK Mishra, Dr SK Panda, Dr JPadhi and other members of the society organised the workshop.
The programme was initiated by Dr PK Sarangi and ended with vote for thanks by Dr CR Satapathy.
