Jajpur engineer caught taking bribe
Jajpur: An Executive Engineer of the Rural Works Division at Jaraka in Jajpur district was caught red-handed by Vigilance police on Tuesday while taking bribe of Rs 10,000. K Badrinarayan Patro was trapped while accepting the bribe from a contractor, Madhusudan Rout, to pass his bill against a contract work.
1 dies, 2 critical in Hiwaha-ten-wheeler accident
Rourkela: In an accident at Gauduniposh under the K Balange police station in Sundargarh district, one person died and two others were critically injured on Tuesday morning. The mishap took place when a Hiwaha vehicle slightly dashed against a ten-wheeler truck at the village near HH-215.
Escaped convict nabbed at Bonei
Rourkela: The life imprisonment convict and inmate of the Bonei Special Sub-Jail who had escaped from the prison on Monday, was nabbed on Tuesday by a jail squad. Debaraj Munda was located at roadside at Bhaludungri in Bonei when he was going by a bike with another person. “Debraj Munda has been captured and brought back to the jail.” said Bonei SDPO RB Panigrahi.
Grievance hearing on RTE held in Anandapur
Anandapur: The Keonjhar Swechhasevi Sammukshya in association with the State Shiksha Adhikar Manch and the Care India Education organised public grievance hearing on Right to Education (RTE) here on Monday. School management committee members of 13 different blocks and workers of various voluntary organisations attended the programme. The participants shared their views on various issues relating to implementation of RTE. They too discussed the problems in the education system in the district with Care India national education officer Amaresh Rai. The participants raised their voice against the rising incidents of irregularities and corruption in the education system.
