UCCI holds meet with European Union envoys
Bhubaneswar: An interaction meeting with the European Union Ambassadors was organised by the Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) here on Tuesday. European Union Ambassador João Cravinho, Hungary Ambassador János Terényi, Czech Republic Ambassador Miloslav Stasek and Feilim Mclaughlin of the Embassy of Ireland were present. UCCI President Ramesh Mahapatra welcomed the Ambassadors and the meeting was presided over by former bureaucrat and UCCI honorary member Vivek Pattanayak. The discussion was mostly focused on trade-related issues and business environment.
Sharma is new PCCF
Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Tuesday appointed Janardan Diwakar Sharma as the new Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF). The Department of General Administration issued a notification in this regard as the post of PCCF was lying vacant with 1977-batch IFS officer Priyanath Padhi superannuating on November 30. Sharma, a 1978-batch IFS officer, was the PCCF (Wildlife) since 2011. During his 34 long years of service, he has served in various key assignments like Chief Executive, Regional Plant Resource Centre, Director, Horticulture, and Managing Director, Odisha Forest Development Corporation.
Rly officers gear up for challenges ahead
Bhubaneswar: The IRAS (Indian Railways Accounts Service) Day is celebrated every year on November 30. The East Coast Railway Accounts wing also celebrated the day with a function here in which several senior accounts officers participated and shared the experiences in their career and gave useful tips to junior officers. There was a general discussion on the changing role of Finance & Accounts in the Railways and the challenges ahead. The meeting was, among other, attended by senior IRAS officers SS Natarajan, DK Samantaray, RS Mitra, Pradipta Kumar Das, UJM Rao and Bijay Kumar Mishra. A talk on the subject “Service Tax” was held in which the speaker was Odisha Power Generation Corporation GM (Finance) Niranjan Swain.
