Rising, Independent match draw in FAO league
Bhubaneswar: The group-B league match between Rising Star Club and Independent Club ended in draw in the FAO 1st Division Football league at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Friday. After the barren first half, the nail biting match ended in 1-1 goal draw in the stipulated time. Rising Star got the lead through the goal of Arijit Keora, but the team failed to maintain the lead. Just after two minutes SK Sagir nailed the equaliser. Durga Madhab Naik, Nabin Chandra Nayak, Subrat Kumar Purohit and Bhanu Bauri were conducted the match as referrers. There will be no matches on Saturday and Sunday due to the Raja festival. On the league matches on Monday, Rising Student Club and Radha Raman Club would meet Radha Gobinda Club and State Bank of India respectively.
State Powerlifting meet from June 21
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Powerlifting Association in collaboration with Utkal Karate School will organise the 25th State Powerlifting Championship at Utkal Karate School here from June 21 to 23.
Altogether 200 lifters from 14 district association, RSP, South Eastern Railway, Institute and East Coast Railway are expected to participate in the unequipped three-day-long meet. The lifters would join in the sub-junior, junior, senior, master-I (40 years above), master-II (50 years above), master-III (60 years above) men and women events. Also they would take part in the open beanchpress event. The State team would be selected from the meet to participate in the forthcoming national meet. The international repute lifters Pradip Kumar Patra, Gangadhar Bisoi, Brahampada Behera, Charandip Singh, Mandakini Mahanta, Sangita Singh and Samita Barik would takepart in the silver jubilee year meet.
