Worker dies in Suktel project area
Balangir: A labourer, Subrat Mahakur, of Angul district, who was working as a helper in a dumper truck engaged in the lower Suktel project construction, died when dumper dashed against him while he was waiting on roadside to go Magurbeda on Sunday. He had been rushed to the Balangir district hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. This incident took place at a time when villagers are again readying to oppose the project as decided at a meeting of Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad held at Kapilbahal recently.
Bike rider killed in mishap in JSpur
Jagatsinghpur: A bike rider was killed in a road accident at Budhapada on the Cuttack- Jagatsinghpur State Highway on Sunday night. He was identified as Adwaita Charan Nayak (40) of Ekrukha village under Naugaon block. The incident occurred when his bike hit head on with a Tata Magic vehicle.
Criminal held; revolver, bullets seized
Jagatsinghpur: The Raghunathpur police on Sunday night arrested a criminal, Purna Sethi, from Sahana village in Tirtol block and seized a revolver and a few bullets from his possession. Purna was picked up by the police from Salijanga village in the Raghunathpur area. As many as three cases are pending against Purna in different police stations across Jagatsinghpur district.
BSNl service fails

Parlakhemundi: The BSNl service has completely failed for the last three day in the tribals-dominated remote areas of Gumma block in Gajapati district. locals alleged that even after their repeated appeals to the concerned authorities, the latter are not giving any attention to the problem and it is a common problem for four to five day every month.
