2 wild jumbos enter N’kanan

PNS

The Nandankanan Zoological Park here has been temporarily closed for visitors after two wild elephants entered its premises by breaking the outer boundary on Wednesday.

The jumbos occupied a small forest area near the zoo’s tiger’s line defying zoo staffs’ efforts to drive them back to the Chandaka sanctuary, from where they came.

In this situation, for the sake of safety of visitors and the zoo animals, including two elephants, the zoo has been closed, a zoo official said, adding that all efforts were being made to drive away the straying elephant duo.

It was assumed that the Chandaka elephants entered the zoo in search of food and water.
