Two poor youths of Sundargarh, who had been trafficked to work as labourers in Bengaluru, were detained by the employer there and meted out with torture.

The family members of the victims met the Assistant Labour Officer (ALO), Sundargarh and narrated the plight of two youths, pleading for their safe release.

The ALO, Sundargarh, meanwhile, has written to the State Labour Commissioner on Tuesday and requested for further action for the rescue of the youths.

The victims are Khetraraj Bhoy(22), a resident of Dumajor and Surendra Chita(23), a resident of Dunguridih  under Hemgiri police station. They had been lured by broker Pyarilal  Dhanuar, a resident of Dunguridih, for good placement in Bengaluru and accordingly Pyarilal allegedly had trafficked both Khetraraj and Surendra to Bengaluru on August 20.

Pyarilal allegedly had engaged them in Ramakrishna Borewell  situated  at Sarkopur before leaving Bengaluru. The family members of Khetraraj and Surendra alleged that the owner of Ramkrishna Borewell had been torturing the youths and also had not been giving them food to eat.

On Monday afternoon, the family members of the victims went to the Labour Office in Sundargarh and lodged their complaint before the ALO.
