After the Supreme Court’s order cancelling the Puri Rath Yatra this year in view of the Covid-19 crisis, two more review petitions have been filed in the apex court seeking reconsideration of its decision.

The petitions have been filed by one Bijan Paikaray and another person Sanjeeb Chinnara appealing to the court for modification in its order and allowing conduct of the festival scheduled on June 23 by enforcing a complete shutdown in the pilgrim town if required during the event.

On Friday, a similar petition was filed by one Aftab Hossen from Nayagarh district in the court, which would be enlisted for hearing on Monday, said his advocate Pranaya Kumar Mohapatra.

Notably, on Thursday, the apex court on a petition filed by the Odisha Vikash Parishad has directed the State Government to cancel the Rath Yatra. The petition pleaded against holding of the festival due to the Covid-19 situation.
