The Raghunathpur police on Sunday arrested two persons, allegedly for passing lewd comments and delivering castiest remarks against Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das, his PSO Sameer Kumar Panda and private secretary Niranjan Sethy.

However, police informed that another person involved in the case was at large and a search drive has been launched to nab him.Reports said that legislator Das on Friday had visited Odapada village under Raghunathpur block for participating in a blood donation camp organised by the local BJD unit. While the blood collection was underway three persons inside the camp premises gave slogans against MLA Das; moreover, they passed casteist remarks and lewd comments against him including his secretary and PSO.Later, local BJD supporters overpowered the three persons and brought the situation under control and the MLA returned Bhubaneswar without harm.On Saturday, MLA’s private secretary Niranjan Sethy and PSO Sameer Kumar Panda lodged an FIR in Raghunathpur police station against the three persons. The FIR was lodged against Manoj Mohanty of Dharadharpur village, Anil Khatua from Jagannathpur village and Paramananda Swain alias Aru from Raghunathpur. The police swung into action and nabbed Anil Khatua and Manoj Mohanty from their village on Saturday night and forwarded them to court. While another accused Paramananda Swain has fled from Raghunathpur area, police said he would be nabbed soon.

Sources informed that a section of Raghunathpur BJD supporters is unhappy over MLA Das' style of functioning. It is alleged that young legislator, who is son of late BJD veteran Bishnu Das is fully guided by his private secretary and a few sycophants at Bhubaneswar and has ignored constituents during Covid time.
