The Baripada Sadar police on Thursday arrested two accused allegedly involved in connection with a video of the sexual harassment of a girl that had gone viral on the social media on Wednesday.
The accused were identified as Motilal Mahanta and Deepak Mahanta of the Jyotipur area of Baripada. The police swung into action after the father of the girl lodged a complaint on Thursday in connection with the incident, which had occurred six months back.
The video has contents of a boy and a girl being forced to strip naked and came to light after going viral on the social media.
Sources said the victim was forced by a gang of three youths, who forced her to strip and recorded the act on mobile phone. The incident occurred when the girl had gone to a park near Patrapur along with one of her friends. Mayurbhanj district SP Aniruddha Singh said another accused, who is still at large, would be nabbed soon.
Believed to have taken place near a park in Bhubaneswar, the incident was later confirmed to have occurred in Baripada after twin city Police Commissioner YB Khurania informed mediapersons.
