2 each of BJP, BJD held for city clash

PNS

The Commissionerate police on Friday arrested two activists each of opposition BJP and ruling BJD for their alleged involvement in the group clash during the dawn-to-dusk Bhubaneswar Bandh called by the saffron party on Wednesday.

The four were arrested on the basis of CCTV and media footages of the incident, sources said. Notably, activists of BJP and BJD had clashed and hurled stones at each other during the hartal on December 21. A scuffle had ensued between the two groups at Master Canteen and Ram Mandir Square and near the Sriya Talkies here.

While a BJP activist was allegedly thrashed by BJD workers, the saffron party activists had set a two-wheeler on fire besides barging into KFC restaurant near Ram Mandir Chhak.

Commissioner of Police YB Khurania said CCTV footage of these incidents would be examined and action would be taken accordingly against those found guilty.
