Two persons, including a senior lawyer, were killed and two others were injured after an empty passenger bus fell on them here on Friday afternoon. The deceased were identified as lawyer Harish Mohanty (56) and Bijay Sethi (27), a resident of Srikrishnapur under Remuna block.
The bus fell from a 25-feet-high over bridge when moving towards the Fakir Mohan circle after leaving all passenges at the bus stand. It is suspected that the helper was driving the bus. The critically injured Pritisobhan Mohanty (24) and another 35-year-old youth, who is believed to be the helper of the ill-fated bus, were shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated at the District Headquarter Hospital here. Pritisobhan is a lawyer and son of Harish Mohanty. The father-son duo was travelling in a motorcycle when the accident occurred. Baleswar Bar Association secretary Monoj Nayak demanded that RTO arrange for regular driving checking for passenger’s safety.
