Two BJD student leaders, Adyaprana Subuddhi and Partha Sarathi Muduli, were expelled from the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) for their reported involvement in the BPUT-related violence on Sunday here.

BCJD president Byomakesh Ray informed this in a statement on Monday. He said the actions were taken on the basis of media reports.

“Following tension erupted at the BPUT students’ alumni programme, another group of students resorted to Rast Roko at the lower PMG area and attacked common people. This is disappointing and deplorable. While the violence was the outcome to past rivalry between two groups of BPUT students, Adyaprana nd Partha Sarathi were found directly involved in the aggression,” stated Ray.

Stating that the BCJD doesn’t tolerate indiscipline, Ray, the MlA from Chandbali, urged leaders to refrain from such violent activities. He too urged political persons not to support the student organisaions which are trying to defame the dignity of the BPUT.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said actions would be taken against erring students who attacked passersby during their agitation at the lower PMG area.

On the other hand, the Chhatra Congress lodged complaints at the Capital police station against BPUT VC Syamsundar Patnaik and Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sanjay Dasburama alleging that they are involved in various irregularities of the university.

A team led by Kiran Sahoo lodged the complaints.
