Taking a cue from CBSE model, the State Higher Education Department has decided to evaluate Plus Two Examination answer-sheets through an e-valuation system from the current academic year.

The Higher Education ant IT Departments are currently holdings talks in this regard. The IT Department would shortly hand over a list of agencies, which are likely to participate in tendering process for the proposed project.

Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahy told mediapersons here that a budgetary allocation of Rs5 crore has been made for e-valuation of Plus Two answer-sheets.

Higher Education Department sources said Expression of Interest (EoI) would be invited shortly as soon as the IT Department hands over the list “It will not take long to finalise the agencies. Both the Finance and law Departments have given their nods,” a senior Higher Education official said, invigilators and examiners would be provided training in this respect.

E-valuation seems imperative as it would mostly be error-free and the manual system of evaluation has become outdated. Taking up the CBSE model of online evaluation of answer sheets of Plus Two Board examinations, the State government has already made budgetary allocations for implementing the system.

DoHE sources said the allocated amount may fall short a bit as e-evaluation system is being implemented for the first time. However, the expenses for this will be reduced subsequently.

The introduction of online evaluation of answer sheets of Plus II examination envisages that the answer-sheets would be scanned and then uploaded to computer software. The teachers would evaluate the papers online.
